Robert W. Sorrell is founder and President of R.W. Sorrell Enterprises, LLC.specializing in diversity and fund raising consultation. Bob began his career as aneducator, teaching mathematics and coaching basketball, but discovered his niche withinhuman services and civil rights: The Urban League Movement. He served as the Deputy Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Urban League and CEO of the PhiladelphiaUrban League. At the latter, Bob started the State of Black Philadelphia Report toencourage leaders to join the Urban League, implemented new programs and services,and instituted the Urban League Young Professionals and Leadership Institute. Bobalso expanded the Urban League Guild.Bob currently serves on Independence Blue Cross’ (IBC) Board and is a member of itsFinance and Executive Committees. Formerly, he served as IBC’s Board Vice President and chaired its Minority Employment and Contracting Committee. Bob is a member ofM & T Bank Regional Advisory Committee, and the Benedict College National Alumni Association. He is a graduate of Benedict College and Carnegie Mellon University. Bob was selected by former Mayor Edward Rendell to serve on the Educational Nomination Panel for the Philadelphia School District. He also served as a Philadelphia delegate to the President’s Summit, co-chaired the Parent Involvement Subcommittee and was appointed by former Governor Tom Ridge to the Pennsylvania Human Resources Investment Council.
